What is a transponder key and do you programme them?
A transponder key contains a small microchip in the key head. When the key enters the ignition, the car immobiliser sends a radio signal to the chip, which responds with a unique code. If the code does not match, the immobiliser prevents the engine from starting even if the physical blade is cut correctly. From around 1995 onwards, most cars use this system. We programme transponder keys for all makes and models using manufacturer-grade equipment to code the chip to your specific vehicle immobiliser.
My key turns in the ignition but the engine won't start - what is the problem?
If the key turns physically but the engine will not start, the most likely causes are: the transponder chip has failed or been deactivated; the immobiliser has developed a fault; or there is a fuel or electrical issue unrelated to the key.
